Four To Six Months, Shipped Weekly

Four To Six Months, Shipped Weekly

A 4 to 6 month internship is 17 to 26 weeks, and the programme runs at one live thing a week.

That is 17 to 26 items with a link and a date at the end of it. It is arithmetic rather than a promise.

The unit is the week

A module is counted in hours. This is counted in weeks in which something went live, because the object being built is a habit and not a syllabus.

Every week has a deadline inside it whether or not anyone writes one down. Writing it down makes the deadline visible on Thursday instead of invisible until the end of the programme.

Why a record beats a portfolio

A portfolio can be described. A record can be checked.

17 to 26 shipped items is a record, and 3 to 5 artefacts with a working link and a date are what move a file forward at the door. The same arithmetic runs inside the programme, on a shorter clock.

25 seats, 5 groups of 5

The intake is 25, split into 5 groups of 5, and every group carries a live client, a deadline and a budget.

In a group of five, each week has five owners and five deliverables. There is no row of seats to hide in, and the person who shipped nothing that week is visible to four other people by the end of it, which is the most useful feedback the programme gives.

210 alumni, 19 countries

The alumni number is 210 across 19 countries. Small enough that a graduate can be placed by name instead of by cohort year.

That is what the 17 to 26 weeks is for. Not the certificate, but the set of people who watched the work arrive week after week and can say what was built.

The honest part

25,000 applications against 25 seats means the answer is usually no, and it means the answer arrives after a real read.

A first pass on a file takes 2 to 4 minutes. Applications are open to any background and any country, and the ones that reach the end of the read are the ones where the artefacts are already in the file. The probability that a candidate carries 17 to 26 shipped items out and still hears no is not zero. It is small, and it is far smaller than the probability that a certificate on its own moves the same file.
