Who you'd be building with
This is an unpaid, immersive engineering internship hosted by EPIC SOLUTIONS PT. in Bali, in collaboration with:
- Energaia Institut — an industrial research institute focused on energy, AI and deep-tech IP.
- EX-IX (ex-ix.com) — an engineering and IP venture building platform that turns engineering teams into patent-producing studios.
Together they run a patent-production line: ideas go in, filed applications come out, and engineers learn the entire craft of invention by inventing.
What makes this possible: the EU IPO SME Fund
The European Union's SME Fund, administered through the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), reimburses a significant share of patent application and IP costs for small and medium enterprises. That funding is what underwrites this sprint — the IP filings you'd contribute to are funded through that programme, so the cost barrier that stops most engineers from ever filing simply isn't there.
You're not shadowing someone else's portfolio. You're helping ship a funded one.
The sprint: nine patents in a week
This is a real, time-boxed production run, not a workshop. Across the week you'd:
- Run prior-art searches across patent databases and academic literature.
- Generate and stress-test invention disclosures with AI tooling — using large-language models to map the claim space, surface novelty, and draft provisional specifications.
- Integrate AI into the invention pipeline itself — claims drafting assistance, prior-art triage, figure generation, and validity checking.
- Draft claims and embodiments in collaboration with Energaia Institut's research leads.
- Prepare filings aligned with EU IPO / EUIPO and SME Fund requirements.
- Ship nine patent applications — real inventions, real deliverables, real filing-ready output.
